Select Standard (IS/IEC/NEC): Yahan aapko electrical safety standard chunnna hai. India mein ‘IS 3043’ chalta hai. Global level par ‘IEC’, aur US ke liye ‘NEC’. Is selection ke basis par background mein ‘K-factor’ (Material Constant) automatically adjust ho jayega.

Conductor Material: Earthing ke liye aap kya use kar rahe hain? Copper (Cu), Aluminium (Al), ya Galvanized Iron (GI/Steel). Har metal ki heat aur current jhelne ki capacity alag hoti hai.

Fault Current Input & Unit (A / kA): System ka maximum short-circuit current kitna hai? Agar chhota system hai toh Amps (A) select karein, agar bada transformer/substation hai toh Kilo-Amps (kA) select karein (1 kA = 1000 A). Yeh value normally breaker ya transformer ki nameplate detail se milti hai.

Fault Clearing Time (Seconds): Aapka circuit breaker ya fuse kitni der mein trip hoga? Normal standard fault time 0.5 sec, 1 sec, ya 3 sec hota hai. Is time ke andar earthing wire ko current jhelna hota hai bina jaley.

A = Minimum Cross-Sectional Area (sq.mm mein) – Yeh apke earthing conductor ki motai hai.

Scenario: Aap ek 11kV/415V, 1000 kVA Transformer ki earthing design kar rahe hain.

Aapko pata hai ki us system ka fault current 10 kA (10,000 Amps) hai.

Breaker ka trip time 1 second hai.

Aap Copper strip lagana chahte hain (Jiska K factor IS 3043 ke hisaab se 159 hota hai).

Calculation (Manual Check):

Formula: A = (I * sqrt(t)) / K

I = 10000 Amps

t = 1

sqrt(1) = 1

K = 159

A = (10000 * 1) / 159

A = 62.89 sq.mm

Decision: Aapko kam se kam 62.89 sq.mm ka copper chahiye. Market mein standard size 25×3 mm (75 sq.mm) ki Copper strip aati hai, toh aap safety margin ke sath woh use karenge.
